  1. Yep that's right, he played right back against us at home, think he setup one of their goals. Jobson and Barrett were their centre backs.
  2. My grandad was also at this one. Think I still have the program somewhere.
  3. You could see he was a quality player, pace, strength, skill, good in the air and the way he would bring the ball out of defence and just glide past players I just thought he made too many mistakes and his positioning wasn't great.
  4. Controversial opinion and all that but Warhurst made a lot of mistakes at centre back. Two shockers in this match alone. Think we would have been stronger that season with the established Pearson and Shirtliff combination with Anderson as backup. And we really should have signed a left sided centre back that season. Just for balance I think Warhurst was a brilliant player and one of our most exciting strikers when played up front.
  5. Great to see our iconic badge back. If we as fans do want it back then if you are going to buy a kit buy the third kit and not the home and away kit.
  6. SDT is his hamster’s name. His other one is called SPG (Special Patrol Group).
  7. I am going to celebrate Windass signing a new contract by watching his panini sticker album ensemble by the brilliant @adamwestsleftear.
  8. Hodge Nilsson Emerson Walker Hinchcliffe Palmer Sheridan Warhurst Waddle Hirst Di Canio
  9. Yes rejected the bid but as far as I am aware the contract offer was much lower than that of a striker with a market value of two million pounds.
  10. I think when Leicester came calling you either accept the offer or, if you reject it offer him a contract at his new market value. Chansiri did neither.
  11. Thats the one that springs to mind for me too. I was in the holte end right in front of that miss.
  12. Didn’t Souness ruin Siggi Jonsson’s career with one of his assaults?
  13. It was indeed. For some reason I remember that really clearly a cracking diving header into his own net. I was sat at the back of the south stand out of the blizzard kop end where that goal went in I think.
  14. What was the reason? I’ve heard on here that Villa doubled his money but then there are others that say we matched Villas offer. Then there’s location in that Villa was closer to home.
  15. A number of interesting points come out of the program notes, thanks for sharing @REDOWL. One was the need for a right and left footed combination at centre back to give a balanced defence. The loss of Ian Knight our only other right footed centre back at the time. What a player he looked. That was a bit of a devastating blow to the team losing him to that horror assault by that Chester idiot. Also talk of switching systems from 4 at the back and going back to a 5-2-3 (which was essentially a 3-4-3 with Sterland and Worthington pushed up at fullback/wingback). Pretty innovative of Wilkinson back in the mid 80s. And I didn't know we had interest in Derek Mountfield. And again evidence that our transfer budget just wasn't enough to go on and compete at the very top. We could have had a centre back pairing of Mark Wright and Gary Pallister with Houghton and Snodin in midfield had Wilkinson been properly backed!
  16. This was about the time you could start to see the lack of investment in the team. Not sure why we got rid of Shirtliff and Shelton but we should have been signing the likes of Mark Wright and Ian Snodin to replace them rather than Larry May and Gary Owen.
  17. Wasn't that season we finished 4th and 1 point behind Norwich in the 3rd, the season the league switched to 3 points for a win? Had it stayed at 2 points for a win that season we'd have gone up.
  18. Let's put Thailand on the list of people/organisations and now entire countries that have got it in for us.
