Yeah, I think the team didn't respond to the crowd's initial energy, so it fizzled out. If I'm being really harsh on the team, I think they've done it in all of these bumper crowds. The past three home games people have turned up ready for a good time but the players haven't been at the same party.

Barry bannan the steel derby magician
cbirks replied to Luke's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
There for the taking?! From the point that Svante didn't make anything of that Bannan ball we were toast. They looked a league above us. We were reyt balls. As this is a Bannan thread, I'll say I felt sorry for him. I was frustrated that he wasn't lighting it up, but then I saw his head drop after Lowe failed to do anything with a lovely ball early in the second half and I thought, 'yeah, he's got nothing around him.' -
I hear all of the perfectly salient arguments for moving away, but I still would prefer our new owner to be one that wants the challenge of transforming Hillsborough. Ultimately, reviving a famous ground and having to overcome multiple hurdles and difficulties is a more glorious project, one that will cloak those that achieve it in even greater prestige. The kind of owner I want is one that wants those prizes.

******** hell, he's still 'doing his best'!

You reckon? Huh. You might be right - personally I don't think he's done *that* well, but maybe you're right. Cadz/Charles I could definitely see, mind.

Have you ever doubted a new signing from day 1?

Ugbo, I said he was exactly the sort of player that does well on a loan but immediately appalling once acquired. I have witnesses! -

What happens with the Embargoes ?
cbirks replied to owls-swfc's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I think it'll be a hard sell not to apply the other deductions - I'm sure that the Oxfords of the league would be pretty vocal if they weren't. Also, would I rather have them applied this season rather than next? Difficult to say - let's see how the next few weeks go! -
Blue and white, Now that it's alright. ... (sort of!)

QMid-season new shirt rollout with simple stripes and new badge featuring eturned iconic owl. Free exchange of any DC-era shirt for the new one. Perhaps not an easy (or cheap) win, but a bloody good one!

According to the BBC article, the winding up request has been made by a creditor. Unless I'm mistaken, this was the same as in 2010, the creditor being the Coop bank. I'm hoping therefore that the creditor - presumably the holder of the Hillsborough debt - will have a similar role as thr Coop bank, in that a new owner could hammer out the deal with them (a la Mandaric). I could be wrong in this. I also think that our then ownership were of course compliant, and we therefore avoided administration. Whether the Coop could've gone over their heads if thet weren't (i.e. put us into administration) I don't know.

If he wasn't injured, he'd have terminated his contract.

Incredible insight.

The Star - Good Chance Hillsborough Loan Won't Be Rolled Over

Danny Röhl - Times Article 'Went days with no sleep'

Read the article! -
Bernard will give 7%. Let's face it, he didn't want to sign his last contract but was talked into it by Röhl, etc. He isn't gonna do anything for this set up. And who can blame him? I wouldn't blame any of them.

I don't know much, but I tell you this, an 18 year old left back is exactly what we need to stave off the drop.

We Should Be Protesting the EFL, Not the Club

IT'S CHANSIRI IT'S CHANSIRI IT'S CHANSIRI -
I'm obviously glad he stayed, but I also think he should have gone. That's for his sake, and for ours. I'd rather he last outings were in the broadly successful Röhl years, cementing a Championship side, rather than in the utterly shambolic season that's to come. It doesn't do him or his legacy credit.

Some supporters don't know about the Trust and protests.
cbirks replied to A47Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
It is a weird one, but it's true. I'm a London Owl, and on more than one occasion I've been in Mables and spoken to people that are pro-Chansiri. I've always found it odd as surely to even know about Mables they must be vaguely active online, and so surely must've seen the details of some of what goes on. Granted, I've not been this year yet - be interesting to see what the lay of the land is, now. Interestingly, they're also people that look at me weird when I say I'm on Owlstalk. Apparently we're angry nutters. -

What, it's up to the Trust to work out how to stop you giving DC hundreds of pounds? How do you work that one out?
