  1. It was a crap pen. There are valid arguments either way as to whether or not McNeill should’ve taken it. He took it, he missed it, end of story. It doesn’t really matter anyway because we’re already down. I just hope his confidence isn’t affected too much by it because he was excellent in that first half and I think there’s a decent player in there.
  2. Someone should tell him how similar he looks to Erling Haaland!
  3. Yeah, he was very reluctant to get the cards out today. Doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, but there were a few weird decisions as you’ve pointed out.
  4. Got summat about him. Shame he missed the pen because he was otherwise very good today, especially the first half.
  5. Don’t understand why their man wasn’t shown a second yellow for a handball in the box.
  6. Brilliant first half, ran out of steam second half. Thought we were the better team overall but we don’t have the quality and the legs to see tight games out - missing penalties doesn’t help either… can’t fault the effort from the players today, we just need everything to go our way to win a game and when one thing doesn’t go our way then we don’t win. It’s crap, but we are where we are. Hopefully news about the takeover soon and then it’s full steam ahead for HMS PTL 26/27
  7. Superb first half, the build up for that second goal was quality. McNeill has been fantastic. Just wish we started this well last weekend!
  8. Thanks for taking the time to type out that story about the land, I wasn’t aware of that before - just reinforces my view that Ashley wouldn’t be good for us, even in the context of the ownership we’ve just got rid of. Hopefully with several parties putting in higher bids than him, we’ll end up doing much better. Also thanks for pointing out my spelling mistake! Hopefully we’ll be back playing you in the top flight again soon, just hope we don’t get smashed 8-0 again… in the meantime, any chance we can have Jacob Murphy back for a bit to get us out of League One next season?
  9. Thank you for taking the time to post this mate. I’m from a family of Geordies and have been trying to dispel some of the myths about Ashley on here for ages. He’d be a nightmare for us for so many reasons and I’m glad you can give more detail than I’m able to. My grandad grew up in the slums of the West End. He started going to St James’ in the 40s and swore he’d never go back whilst Ashley owned the club because he was a proud working class northerner who hated his business practices. Sadly he died before the club was sold, although he would’ve hated the Saudis even more! All the best to yous, haway the lads
  10. Just seen the OS article and we’ve described him as “England international” - I laughed at the pigs doing that for Bamford and now we’ve gone and bloody done the same ffs
  11. In a way it’s actually quite nice to be able to talk about football again, instead of the IFR bill or Companies House or whatever other off-field crap we were discussing before admin happened.
  12. Actually maybe Villa would be a better comparison, forgot Spurs actually won a trophy last season!
  13. Newcastle before Ashley - top 10/top 5 finishes, European football most seasons including Champions League, cup finals Newcastle under Ashley - mid table finishes, two relegations, one season in the Europa League, no cup runs Newcastle after Ashley - top 5 finishes, back in the Champions League, League Cup winners “For all the noise”, Newcastle went backwards under his ownership, it’s not even up for debate. The modern-day equivalent would be like someone buying Spurs and taking them into the Championship within two years… nobody would then say they were a good owner because they paid the bills on time!
  14. The new CL format is weird until the knockouts, but beating Bayern 3-1 is still a big result. Said at the start of the season that they’ve got the best squad in the country and that depth is really showing now. Key players get injured and others come in with no drop in results - they look like a very good side.
  15. If you’d offered us that at the start of the season but we have to get battered every game and finish on minus points, we all would’ve taken it. No point in getting worked up over results or performances this season, the only important thing is what comes next
