One group wanted to merge with our neighbour’s!!??
WC1Owl replied to Bloxwich Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
My guess on this fwiw is that they may have thought they could buy us and effectively shut us down, leaving the city clear to be dominated by the merged club, “Sheffield United”. Obviously not allowed under EFL rules but I can see a certain Bond villain logic in it. -
Anyway, I’m not really going to criticise these players. It isn’t going to make this squad any better. And I don’t think there’s very much the manager can do about it.
-
I think the squad size is reduced in admin and there’s some restriction on playing the kids as well. I don’t have it to hand and may have got it wrong!
-
That lot are poo. Last year’s Wednesday would have battered them. And they’re 4th!
-
That’s not why. It’s because we need the squad slot kept open (as I understand it)
-
It’s been fully explained why we don’t just throw an academy kid in there.
-
(I was being sarcastic)
-
It’s a mystery and no mistake!

Reckon this shows the grunters are in a false position, they were obviously several levels above this and just didn’t let us into the game at all. we may well still lose this but most of this division is mediocre as usual.

Cancelled plans mean I get to watch this on Sky+ tonight. Could life get any more exciting?

More formal bids expected at SWFC today

Quite apart from anything else I wouldn't have thought it was legally possible for the administrators to structure a sale with deferred or contingent compensation. I stand to be corrected by someone who actually knows insolvency law. -
Very tickled by the idea that Chansiri is going to take his £15m and buy another football club with it

🦉 v ⚔️ The Steel City Derby: Official Matchday Thread
WC1Owl replied to ReginaldD's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
No point getting depressed about today. They have us beat for quality all over the pitch, and they were 100% fired up today. I didn’t see our players not putting a shift in, but they were outclassed and outcompeted. -
Pretty sure you’d have to do money laundering checks. Obvs not an issue when it’s the Walton Penner Group buying us.

Materially quicker to drive from S6 to Manchester Airport than from Zone 2 East London where I live (in West Ham country, sadly) than Heathrow or Gatwick

The second data room isn't going to have much in it. At a guess: * up to date management accounts so the buyers can assess cashflow requirements (the debts etc are irrelebvant) * employment contracts for playing staff and other key staff, and a summary of other employment obligations * title to the ground, all the stiff that goes along with a land conveyance inc safety records * lease agreement for the training ground * anything relevant to EFL membership And as you have pointed out, the issues with the ground and training ground are somewhat obvious without needing to see any of it. -
Yes, Wigfield said last night that the buyer had to show the ability to fund the club for 2 years, so there's obviously some attempt to get a buyer who would fit the IFR's requirements and the EFL's OADT. After that threshold its biggest bid wins. I don't have a problem with that, there's no guarantee that any other way of making the decision would be more protective of the club.

Potentially a -15 could still lead to promotion

Irrelevant innit. There’s no reason to believe the sale price won’t be welll above the required threshold (ignore Charlie Methven). -
Pretty safe bet tbf
-
Totally Richard Branson, obvs. Virgin Sheffield Wednesday incoming.
-
Also frankly I think it wasn’t that relevant before. There might have been more debt on the management acccounts than in the last audited accounts but the idea that Chansiri was running some kind of Enron level scheme is just another example of how he’s driven us all mad.
-
You keep saying this. The books are irrelevant .

Assuming that we can do some recruitment this January, I think it should be aimed at taking the pressure off our young prospects a bit for the rest of this dead rubber season, and thinking of them as the nucleus that we start building on in League One next season. It's not about desperation stations to save this season (I am all for positive thinking, but as it stands we have a 17 point deficit to 21st, and expect that to be more or less where we stand when the transfer window opens, at best). Let's get some bodies in to take the strain and keep things respectable, and if there's any chance to do that and a little bit more, fair enough.
