Not true at all. It's the BBC and ITV that are obsessed with Liverpool,Man Utd, Arsenal etc. I regularly watch my local clubs Grimsby and Lincoln on Sky. And Jeff Stella, the old anchorman, was a Poolie and knew his lower division stuff.

Make it tenner a ticket rest of winter

Can you put all your posts through Google translate please. I've not a clue what you mean. You're saying God doesn't wear a cap? -
Makes sense to have 3 designated takers in the starting team because a late penalty decision could find two of them off injured or substituted. After scoring two, McNeill would presumably have been confident. Anyway his miss leaves Bannan top scorer with 3. Bit pathetic, coming into December.
-
Bannans missed penalties for us before so I'd sooner an in form McNeill took it. Was more a good save than a bad miss. Hoping it's not shook the lads confidence. Their was one bloke on the pitch with a 100% record....8 in 8 I think......but due to Chansiri he was wearing a Preston shirt. Ugbo against Millwall was a different matter. He hadn't scored in ages and that would have put us 2-0 up.

The only excitement we've had this century has been against Hartlepool Arsenal Wycombe Peterborough and Barnsley and 4 of those 5 games were in the third tier. So bring it on.

Maybe because that person is a season ticket holder and his seat was empty?

I'd sooner we try him as a ball boy. -
SWFC V Preston North End, the Smith/Valentin Derby

We have to work out how to get into the penalty area first to get a penalty. Not quite cracked that bit of the equation. -

How do you mean Preston aren't all that? They've only lost 4 out of 17 league games. Do you know something we don't? Wednesday aren't finding the Championship pizza poor, are they? -
Yes but people do. Especially politicians. Coventry were playing at Northampton Town with crowds under 5k not many years ago. Think the fans were boycotting the club over some long running disagreement about the Ricoh Arena. Anyways , they've got a top manager now and seem to know what they're doing. Far and away the best team in the Championship from what I've seen on Sky. Might be a long road back for us but if we get the right rich bloke with an actual sensible forward plan, we might one day be like Coventry (never thought I'd say that). I was 12 years old when I saw Wednesday win a league championship. I'm 78 now and I reckon it's about time we saw another, even if it's just EFL1 to begin with. I'd like to think we could be another Man C but with our luck, I'd settle for Wrexham at the moment.

Plus they're all obsessed with us aren't they? Oh.....hang on.....

Do people have to click on "quote" when it takes nearly a full page?

Yes, he maybe should have come out and punched clear but he made some excellent stops. Had a good game overall.

Agreed. I'm old enough to remember John Hickton, Gerry Young and Paul Warhurst. All defenders or midfielders who were played as emergency centre forwards. Hickton scored a hat trick against Arsenal but we stupidly let him go to Boro where he became a legend. Young scored hat tricks against Man U and A.S.Roma. Warhurst you might know about. If Iorfa or Inglesson fancied it, I'd try one of them before Ugbo.

Two seasons to get out of L1
Lincs Owl replied to crookesowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We've been relegated to the third tier on four previous occasions and never once came straight back up. And we never won the division on the four occasions we did go up. All depends on how much the new owners want to spend on it. With a new manager and new players anything can happen. -
Potentially a new stadium,i really hope not
Lincs Owl replied to BrianOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I like Rogers superimposed 45k stadium. Remember we haven't averaged 30k since the sixties which is remarkable given the size of Sheffield and the massiveness of the club. When we were decent (1984 to 1997 roughly) crowds in football were generally low compared to today. We could certainly average 40k in today's Premier League, so if the new owners are ambitious I'd like to see them try to buy the land around Owlerton stadium. They could always resell it if things don't work out. Land investment. -
Somebody suggested Iorfa up front the other week which I took to be a joke, but thinking about it he could be our new Warhurst. Play instead of Ugbo. Can't do any worse. Dom is a liability at the back. Always looks likely to trip over the ball. But..... he can head the ball as well as any. He's fast and can tackle so any defender playing out from the back could be in trouble. He can't pass or shoot so he's about level with Ugbo there. Yes, Cadamarteri and big Dom up front as an experiment for me. I think we lost 4-0 at Millwall last season so could be same again unless the boss makes big changes. I remember Megson saying if you keep playing the same players you'll keep getting the same result.

Annoying things about modern football and Sunday.
Lincs Owl replied to WimJunk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Quite the contrary with me. Silly spectacle of refs running to the corner flag to see if the ball is one centimetre over the line. Then ref and lino allowance someone to run ten yards down the touchline with a throw in. Where's the sense of proportion? -
One group wanted to merge with our neighbour’s!!??
Lincs Owl replied to Bloxwich Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Presumably just a rumour without foundation. But if it's genuine it just shows one interested party hasn't done their homework and hasn't a clue what Sheffield football is all about. And that would be the problem with USA owners for me. Most of them simply want to make money. The Wrexham twosome seem to be an exception. -
Lowest point was having to beat Southend last game of 1975-6 season to stay out of division 4. We just did it 2-1. No multi millionaires round the corner then.
-
Think we did. I'm sure I've seen matches before where the bottom team playing at home beats the team third from bottom. Maybe I dreamed that.
-
Lose Paterson Windass Smith Musaba, Gassama and not replace them. Then pick a bloke up front who's now gone 48 games without a goal. But it's a mystery to some why we're toothless. No shot on target at all. I'm not surprised.

You do realize he's a Blade don't you? Not sure what they did in 91 though.

Jewell took little Bradford City into the Premier League previous to coming to us, then took little Wigan up there just after leaving us. Who knows what he could have done with proper backing. He said he was managing with his hands tied behind his back here.
