  1. player's contracts are confidential between club, agent and player. They are never shown individually on balance sheets. The wage figures shown on 'transfer market' type sites are just wild estimates which are never going to be accurate. Pointless even quoting them.
  2. Our 4th trip down below this century and it might not stop there. But we'll have great days to look forward to. My only good football memories this century are... Beating the mighty Pool with a debatable penalty in Cardiff Beating world famous Wycombe at a packed out Hillsbro and Miguel Llera being carried off shoulder high by the crowd. Beating ten man Barnsley with a last minute header from a player who is apparently only half as good as he thinks he is. Ah the memories. That's about it really.
  3. You'll notice Bournemouth Brighton and Brentford(posh West London) are in the right areas for multi millionaires. Remember Abramovic flying his private helicopter over Old Trafford and deciding it was too industrial to live there? Finished up in West/Central London. Most multi millionaires have either never heard of Sheffield or think it's some mill town near Blackburn or wherever. We might drop lucky one day. Wouldn't necessarily have to be a multi millionaire. Just an ordinary millionaire who knows how to run a business, understands football and treats the supporters with respect. Three things which Chansiri clearly lacks.
  4. I remember going to watch Bradford Park Avenue at home to Notts County in 1968 in the fourth division. They played in a decent sized city with a better stadium than Bradford City and had decent crowds. They fell out of the league in 1970 and went bust/disbanded in 1974. Didn't make Bradford City great. Valley Parade crowds didn't double. In fact City only managed 2 seasons in the top division since then. United have had 3 spells in the Premier League this century. Why would they want to merge? And Sheffield with 560,000 inhabitants is bigger than Liverpool. Fact is we can't keep hold of any decent managers we have. Catterick Wilkinson Atkinson. Liverpool Leeds Man Utd kept hold of Shankly Revie Busby/Ferguson and built a dynasty. We've become dinosaurs. Probably played Rotherham more than United this century. Can't imagine many supporting a merged team. Would they play in blue and red stripes like Palace?
  5. Judging by the daft comments he made on another thread, Maidstone Owl has probably never been in our South stand, never mind Glasgee.
  6. Not been on the training facilities at Middlewood Road so I wouldn't know, but Coventry should change their pitch to concrete if Saturdays performance is anything to go on. Didn't hurt them.
  7. Scunthorpe United's 'any old iron' by Tommy Steele takes some beating.
  8. No. Ron and Peter swapped clubs in the close season of 1967. We did not play QPR in 1967-8 season. We played them at Hillsborough in the 1st Division 14th Dec 1968. I was there. We won 4-0 in front of 22004. Ron and Peter both played. You might be thinking of Jan 1967 when we played them at Hillsborough in the fac. We won 3-0 and Ron was playing for us. Ritchie hat trick. 40,038 Inc me again.
  9. Running on the pitch with a Chansiri Out flag won't hit the headlines. Just needs one person with a 'I support Palestine Action' banner and you're guaranteed to get dozens of police rushing in. Maybe even a police helicopter landing on the pitch. Loads of free publicity.
  10. Strange post. What exactly are Birmingham trying to make out they are, that they're not?
  11. They've all played in a postwar fa cup final or league cup final except you know who.
  12. It's rumoured he might get paid at Walsall.
  13. Unfortunately he does have a right to continue running the club because he bought it and it's all his. That's the problem. We don't have a board of directors running the club while he's in Thailand.
  14. When we're in league one next season and getting stuffed by the likes of Burton Albion and Port Vale, we'll all be reminiscing about how great the likes of Adam Reach and Beswetherick were. And as for Windass being only half as good as he thinks he is.... Ahhhh Those were the days.
  15. I used to watch Wednesday train there in the early 60s. They'd play on the football pitch in the middle. Yes it's sad news. I used to watch Sheffield Tigers back in the day....but their bad news should be our good news, as looking at Google aerial view there's space enough for a big football stadium. If Wednesday had any business sense and a far sighted owner with money, they'd put in an offer to buy that land and keep it as an asset even if they don't have immediate plans to leave Hillsborough. Land values double every 10-20 years and in the meantime they could rent it back for greyhounds speedway stock cars or whatever. The pitch in the middle could be used for Sheffield Eagles RL, Sheffield FC or even swfc ladies. But we don't have any men of vision at Hillsborough unfortunately.
