As you say, his small CV shows he can impact when coming in mid season so don't see why his appointment would work pre season rather than mid season. As a lifelong Wednesday fan, he's the best manager in my lifetime (not saying much admittedly) but he was a class above anything I've seen before in the Hillsborough dugout.

Thats not how i see it. I see it as he came in and got a poo tonne more out of a dejected squad than many others could have. I suspect he'd do the same at rangers and have the same rangers team pushing the top 2 come the end of the season.
