That World Cup was a tough one for a few legendary players who didn’t make the cut because of a lack of substitutes in those days. Jimmy Armfield had been England captain up to 1966, got injured just before the tournament and then lost his place to George Cohen.

Oh just realised second place have to do a play off. Looks like they will need to beat Denmark at home. -

Scotland should surely qualify now. -
Looks like our Danny could be the frontrunner now. Must be something rotten at Rangers if people keep looking under the bonnet and running a mile.
-
Wow some brutal quotes in there. Chansiri is getting it from all angles now. This simply isn’t sustainable.
-
Gerrard heading back to Rangers then?
-
Spot on. How Chancer set this club up for this season is absolutely scandalous.
-
Surely as an employer Rangers have a duty of care to their employee and that must mean sacking Martin tonight and putting the bloke out of his misery.

Big Ange - New Notts Forest Manager

Lost 30 of his last 45 PL games. Doubt he will get another job at this level if he doesn’t turn things around fast. -
Loads of videos of it on Twitter. The club’s plight has to stay on the news agenda so that the football regulator uses us as the first example of its power. Great credit to all who participated today.
-
Like everything else at the club under this wretched owner, we have no sense of pride or standards. What next? They going to play Annie’s song after the pigs ******** on us?

We may be on our arse but at least we're not Blades

Still early days but they are going to have to put their foot down to make up for lost ground. Will probably need 20 wins from their remaining 38 games to make play offs. And would need to average 2.3 points per game to achieve the same total they did last season, which is pretty much impossible. -

What a graceless oaf he is. 2 home games 2 defeats. The owners should have stuck to their guns and told the scruffy pig to get lost. -

Is there anything more Wednesday than a 99th minute equaliser? -

Away from home we have the formula. If only we could sort out our dismal record at S6. -
This tedious poo gets wheeled out every year. There are plenty of towns across the country where football is the primary source of pride. The Geordies just happen to have the biggest gobs.

Amorim has won 3 away games in the 11 months he’s been manager. That’s atrocious. But they have got Liverpool next, so at least that is an easy one for him…

Man Utd still sold out every game and are a huge cash cow. DC is losing money hand over fist. Keep up the pressure. -
Surely Martin is cooked?
-
Very fair points. Spurs must be making a killing on their new stadium. It looks tailor made for extracting cash.
-
Agreed. Chapman is a world class broadcaster. Monday Night Club on 5 Live is essential listening for me.

I have some sympathy for the case against the stadium, although I think the way Upton Park is now seen as some cauldron of noise is a total myth. Ultimately this stadium was too good for them to turn down, despite the structural issues. It was built for them, it was less than 3 miles away from their current stadium, it had a big capacity and they managed to negotiate an amazing deal whereby the council was responsible for most of the upkeep. Moyes did an incredible job and they still wanted him out. They are just never ******** happy.

Is the show even relevant anymore in an era where you can watch the highlights in 2 minutes on YouTube?
