Ironically, the Trust know they can only do so much and can only go so far. They’ve made several calls for the fans not to just rely on them and do their own thing
-
Exactly…. And when people try to excuse it because it gets a round of applause from some Pompey fans, it sticks in the throat a bit.
-
So far I’ve done what the Trust have requested where possible. The pull of watching a cup game at Hillsborough under the lights against a Premier League team and local rival in what could have been a classic with the stadium bouncing, was a big ask for some. To stay away from two cup games, not buy any shirts for me or the kids, not spend a penny on the club…. They’re all big asks. But some of us have done it and it’s not been easy. So to then see people having their big day out, under the feable excuse that they are somehow doing us a favour (and is hypocritical to the message of the Trust) Absolutley feels like it’s being rubbed in my face. Trying to equate that to going to the Embassy isn’t close to being an equivalent and it’s frankly a silly argument. And if point scoring is what we’ve progressed to, then we have no hope of unity.

Have the Trust actually said they support away games, or just they arent calling for a boycott of away games, because thats two different things. The whole point (which you seem to keep missing) is that people are now questioning why the boycott isnt extended to away games. There were a 3 of us who called it out and it seems that more fans and more fans are realising this and questioning it. I admit, that when I first raised it, it wasnt the right time.... but surely we must be heading towards that. There becomes a point where its the most effective next step that doesnt involve more militant action. If you cant see why it feels like rubbing our noses in it (especially when people are making big sacrifices while others are still attending games) then you have your head in the sand and I cant help you. The rest is just irrelevant deflection.

This. It feels like we are in uncharted territory here. We are far from bottoming out. The question is, just how far will we fall?
-
Credit needs to go to the Trust for continually working in the background to push the matter and try and force change. It must be exhausting for them and Im sure theyre doing far more in the background than we realise. It must be a thankless task at times.

Just to be clear, it was the Trust who said (And Im paraphrasing) The most effective way to remove the owner is to defund him, to boycott. Then we have slogans like "Not a pound in the ground" and "not a penny more" and the likes.... So fans are slowly coming to the realisation, that if that is the case, that a boycott must mean a boycott. If every penny counts...... then every penny counts. Not this half ar5sed boycott where people are making sacrifices, yet a group of fans are literally rubbing everyones noses in it. I dont give two hoots about other teams and their owners....... I do, however care about our owner and how is best to remove them. And the Trust have told us the way to do this is "not a penny more"

Would it be easier if we pointed out every instance where we make the media from now on that isnt driven by away fans, just so we can put that myth / excuse to bed?

Full Boycott Against Middlesbrough - How Many Tickets Left?
Miffed replied to BIG D's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
But you said the players aren’t getting the support they deserve and suggested that was from the fans. The support they should be seeking is from the owner. Fans didn’t cause this situation and fans shouldn’t feel guilty about boycotting It’s on the owner to pay the staff employed to him….. nothing about this is on the fans -
Just saw an advertisement, it looks like Simon Jordan was talking about us in Talksport again. More media attention that wasn’t driven by away fans once again
-
But still making some money, right? Just like the club might only make a little bit from a mars bar or a pint of beer bought in the stadium (after expenses / costs etc)

I wish people would stop with this one. They done NEED our support.... they NEED to be paid on time. Im sure the players want change as much as the fans do and I wouldnt be surprised if every single player fully understands and backs the protests and boycotts. Your post almost makes it out that the fans are the problem -
Sorry, some of my post disappeared when editing it The Leicester game got all the attention because of the part where the fans weren’t there We’ve had a lot of coverage on Talk Sport recently which has been driven by Simon Jordan and Barry Bannan who often appear on there. They never start off the report by mentioning away fans The Leeds boycott also made the main news on the BBC website…. There are ways to get media attention without giving the owner more money

There are ways to get media attention that have the added benefit of ‘not a penny more’
-
You do realise that following the Trust is exactly why people are questioning away fans, right? And you don’t see any thread following the trusts advice? Did you miss it in the Matchday section?
-
The away fans also send a message to the owner that no matter how bad things get, there’s a hardcore group of supporters who will turn up, no matter what, despite all the scarf waving.

Which young players did you expect to make it?
Miffed replied to WimJunk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Possibly doesn’t fit the OP criteria but I would thought Etienne Essajas was going to be an absolute world beater. -
Yet ironically, the biggest media attention was when the away stand was (mostly) empty. Go figure.
-
I’m using the word ‘support’ it suggests that you would be fully behind, including joining in with a boycott. The part where you state you would get behind a boycott for one game but don’t want to waste your money for a lesser game suggest otherwise. Please take more time to see where your message might be mixed before you respond in a patronising manner please.
-
They’re not debating which is the better game to boycott though, that’s a valid argument to have …. they’re saying they don’t support a boycott but do support a boycott in the same post.

One of my favourite of all time I cling to the hope that Sonny just got bored of us lot and is living his best life -
Adds this to the cool kids guidebook of what you can and can’t do.

Dejphon Chansiri get out of our club
Miffed replied to Kirton_owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The band (as far as Im aware) havent joined in any protest songs at Hillsborough.... be surprised if they did, given their position. -
I could see it applying to some. If youre lonely or vulnerable and its one of the few times you get out of the house maybe.
