Regardless of what you think about Pedersen as a coach, the way he's led this squad and represented our club through these dark times surely deserves a lot of credit. It must be killing him going into each game knowing he's probably a couple of hours away from another defeat, yet he's never been anything less than professional and dignified in his interviews or on the touchline. Watching his post-match interview today, you could tell that his professional pride has taken a knock, but he's still here, still taking the blows, and still trying to make the best of a desperate situation. No matter what happens from here on out, he's been a class act in the most testing circumstances I can remember.122 points

'The stars of the night were, though, the travelling support from Sheffield. Without wishing to sound patronising (which I probably do), they were magnificent. The applause that rippled around Carrow Road as they belted out their final ‘Wednesday ’til I die’ refrain of the night was a nice moment.' Got me a bit that.90 points

A lot of the build-up to the derby today - and the reaction after it - centred around whether United could 'avenge' the Boxing Day Massacre of 1979. But the significance of the BDM stems from the pre and post-match trajectories of both teams back then. The margin of victory was sweet, but not as consequential as the direction both clubs went in after. After enjoying a decent decade through the 1960s, Wednesday endured a woeful 1970s. Relegation in 1970, and again in 1975, and nearly again to the Fourth Division in 1976. Attendances were down, often below 10,000 - the club was on its knees, and even Jack Charlton took a few years to get it going again after taking over in 1977. On the other side of the city, United had returned to Division One in 1971 and enjoyed five years in the top flight. They'd then suffered two relegations in four years, but were strong favourites to win the Third Division title in 1979/80. Ahead of the game at Hillsborough on 26th December, Wednesday had been largely inconsistent and been unable to string a run of wins together. United were top of the league and flying. Before the game, United fans were cocky enough to proclaim day would result in a 'Boxing Day Massacre' in their favour. On the day, Wednesday ran riot, winning 4-0. After that, both teams' fortunes went in polar opposite directions. United fell apart, winning just two of their last sixteen games and finished mid-table. Wednesday went from strength to strength, climbing the table week by week and eventually secured promotion. In the years that followed, United only got worse. They were relegated to the Fourth Division in 1981, and spent the rest of the decade in the lower leagues, but Wednesday only got better. They finally ended their 13-year absence from the First Division in 1984, and over the next 10/15 years became a top-flight mainstay, League Cup winners, enjoyed European runs and were treated to the brilliance of Chris Waddle, David Hirst, John Sheridan, Des Walker and Roland Nilsson. All of that, from one game, played many years before. Since relegation from the Premier League, Wednesday have been a shambles, let's be honest. I've lost count of the amount of times we've gone into a Steel City derby fearing an absolute drubbing, with a team of kids and misfits, and having to be relieved by the odd 0-0 draw here and there. But the Boxing Day Massacre still stands as a huge turning point in our club's history, and can't ever be 'avenged'. The closest they've come was the 4-2 win at Hillsborough in 2016, when we'd been top dogs for a few years and they'd struggled in League One. But it wasn't 4-0. And more importantly, the turnaround in fortunes that it instigated wasn't anywhere near as impactful as the one brought about by the BDM. Yes, United went up to the Premier League, and finished mid-table on one occasion, but then came back down. No cup win, no European run, no rubbing shoulders with the elites. I did fear for today, in the same way I've feared many derby days in recent years. Again, we went in with a team of kids and misfits and expected a thorough drubbing, but even a 0-6/7/8 scoreline (which did seem on the cards early on) wouldn't have been able to change the trajectory of Sheffield Wednesday in the same way it did for both clubs in 1979. This time, Wednesday's fate has been sealed for many many months, and was delivered by one man, who has scarpered back to Thailand. In 1979, Wednesday put a decade of misery behind them, and two decades of joy in front of them - with a famous win that should - and will - stay in our club's folklore for as long as we're in existence.77 points

All bidders should put in a bid of £1 only let the winner be chosen by their ability to take the club forward take -15 and use the £15,20, 25million on players and infrastructure and smash the league next year crowds will be up a lot if we are winning every week. Every single one of you representing the club in what must be one of the most depressing days in our history. You kept singing, stayed to the end and did the club proud. You showed what we are really about. Onwards and upwards from this point on.76 points

Yes he might be past his best, but he’s been a terrific servant, impressively adaptable, hardly ever injured and THAT equaliser… Whether you’re a “knocker” or not, he deserves a rousing reception tomorrow night.69 points

Have sent the below email to enquiries@efl.com today. Think we should all be kicking off at them to be honest and also encourage fans of other clubs to do the same before it happens to them. Sorry it’s long ……….. Good morning I write to you as a fan of Sheffield Wednesday FC and wish to state my concerns that the current rules and EFL are standing in the way of the survival of my club. Whilst I would agree that clubs should not be able to use admin as a way to gain an unfair advantage, there should also be a view taken that continually punishing fans and punishing new owners is detrimental to the future of the club and risks it going out of existence. I am told that the EFL insolvency policy states that a club which fails to pay creditors 25p in the £ on exiting admin is punished with a 15 point deduction. However, it is stated that this is discretionary. My question to you is this - Under what discretionary circumstances would the 15 points not be applied? I would list the following as reasons for using this discretion; 1). Has the club already been punished - yes - they have received 18 points of deductions and will be relegated this season - therefore is a further punishment justified? 2). How has admin arised - this is down to the actions of the previous owner. An owner vetted and approved by the EFL. When did this last owner submit future financial projections to the EFL and should the EFL have done more to protect the club from this individual? 3). The clubs debt - the most significant reason why the 25p in the £ will not be achieved is because of a directors / owners loan. A buyer will only pay for what the club is worth on the open market. They cannot be held responsible for the debt of the previous owner or be expected to pay way beyond market value simply to meet this rule. In applying this logic you are deterring people from buying the club. What if the owner had converted the debt to capital or removed their claim. How close would the winning bid be to the 25p then? If close, then should the penalty be suspended or significantly reduced? 4). The EFL rules allow for losses of 13 million a year. This allows and even encourages owners to spend in an unsustainable way. Therefore this rule has significantly led to the above mentioned directors loan. It is the same with other clubs. What is the EFL going to do to prevent this happening again and again. 5). What does the EFL want to see - do they want to see a SWFC to continue and be rebuilt? If so, how does the 15 point deduction achieve this? 6). Does the EFL think that punishing new owners will encourage more investment in the game? In addition to this there is talk of wage caps which would further handicap new owners for past owners mistakes. I think broad changes applying to all clubs need to be considered to protect the heritage of the game and the reckless overspending of all clubs. What happens when the next EFL club owner runs out of cash or decides they will no longer fund their club? It is only a matter of time before the next club fails. What is the EFL actively doing to protect fans and clubs?68 points

What I find most staggering in the whole of this, is there is an increasing groundswell of opinion that Pedersen / the squad should be doing better. To only have lost the last couple of games 2-1 and 2-0, is near on miraculous and should be praised. A local derby, followed by a long away trip. If we can somehow keep Southampton (the form team) to a 3-0 defeat, that would also be a good result. I know fans don't want to hear that, but it's true. One look at our bench last night, tells you that this is now truly an impossible job. All this against a backdrop of injuries and bad news, all season. We should be losing 4 or 5 nil, every game. It is only through the coaching staff having us organised on the field, that it's not.67 points

Have they just won the Champions League? I can't believe all the celebrations and team photos going on. And Peck, what an utter tool. It's one of the most cringe embarrassing things I have ever seen.64 points

Argyle fan here pitching in - Always a crack when we play each other, whether at yours or ours... Great atmosphere guaranteed and when you have travelled the milage to Plymouth it's been superb meeting you all at our local (The Brittania Inn). Great banter, phenomenal away support (just like ours) and always a day to remember (wrightly or wrongly). Your support this season is (and probably throughout the PM & EFL) is unrivaled given your circumstances... . With your love, loyalty and 'never say die' for your club, that alone will steer you through this current nightmare... Always keeping tabs on you, and this time, more than ever, wishing you the best. Supporters like you are a rarity...55 points

It was simply a mistake by a very inexperienced and limited footballer. The fact that it happened within the first minute was horrible but as Windass said at half time “ Sheffield Wednesday do not have the quality to be competitive “ My God, to only lose 2-1 after that was remarkable ! Got to give the boys some credit for that.46 points

Genuinely no need for a single negative comment in this thread. He's about to achieve something for his boyhood club that very few ever will. In doing so, he's been player of the season, a terrific ambassador, played the majority of positions AND scored one of the most important/memorable goals in our history. Nothing else really needs to be said. Especially during this season. Congratulations, Liam. Now go get the record.43 points

Now we've played the scrubbers and what we all knew in August is now confirmed I'm already starting to feel more positive. I probably won't make all game due to being away some weekends but when I left after the Millwall game I said that that was probably me done for the season. Let's get the takeover sorted and bring on next season - the comeback starts in a few weeks. WTID UTO FTP43 points

If Bord is approved, I'm not sure I will. I was so excited about Chansiri going as I hoped it gave us a real chance of turning the club around. Bords record would suggest we will tread water for a few years and go nowhere. I'm really not up for that41 points

We’ve all had United away circled in the calendar for months as being potentially a record breaking and historical low point. It could have been absolutely awful. In reality, we got away with a 1 goal defeat and a confirmed relegation that means remarkably little (despite how much they’ll run their mouths about it). As bad as this year has been, we’ve managed to navigate it with our club still alive (just), Chansiri out of the picture and having not lost to them by more than 3. On all counts, it could have been much worse. My primary emotion since Sunday has been relief. It feels like a millstone has been lifted from our necks and like we can finally move forward.40 points

Not interested in how bored you are Fact is this has been a season from hell and he’s had to live it and witness it front and centre without any hiding place. He’s come out after every defeat to face the press, turned up everyday and try to lift the players ,dealt with unpaid wages, been round with the begging bowl trying to get players in, had countless injuries and he’s done it all with the upmost class40 points

EFL create a rule protecting unsecured creditors requiring 25% to be paid to them Club not worth 25% of the amount required re unsecured creditors EFL to impose - 15 points Club now worth less as now because of minus 15 and likely to be League 2 Therefore club worth less Therefore unsecured creditors get less or nothing.
