Slattery's diving. 

I hate it and, in my opinion, it's cheating. 

He came with that repuation (got suspended for feigning injury at Motherwell), and it is such a shame for such a talented footballer.

Last night didn't look like he was touched, and should have received a yellow on Saturday.

He did get a very soft yellow on Saturday.  And a slightly harsh one last night.

 

Like Bannan I think he'll probably get a couple of suspensions during the season.

 Defender didn't see him coming  in to challenge for the ball and made contact, clear pen for me.

It was, I saw the referee award it and J Lowe score it. It is even shwing on the BBC as J Lowe (Pen) if you need to check it out

There's a purist football perspective that you don't want to see stuff like it in the game - from anybody.

 

But I'm also of the view that for my entire life, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club have been a soft touch, on just about every front. We haven't had enough "sh*thouses" in our team or representing our club, instead rolling over to what feels like half the EFL as they wind us up, have an edge over us or just otherwise have their way over us. Not saying I condone outright cheating (which I also don't agree Slattery has done with us so far anyway) but I'm not going to clutch any pearls over having a Wednesday team with an edge.

Having watched it back at half speed 3 times, he gets a kick on the back of the calf. The defender plays the player not the ball, pen.

Slow motion suggests the Wycombe player clipped Slattery’s calf as he was attempting to clear the ball, so the referee made the correct decision.
 

Slattery’s movement was lightning fast and there was very little their player could do to avoid the contact.

Yes, defender didn't clear the ball first time, Slattery cleverly got in front of him so that he got kicked on second clearance.
