Quixall Portrait

Mate of mine has been commissioned to do a portrait of Albert Quixall, presumably for the Quixall lounge.

He's the one Wednesday player I wish I could have watched...my Dad and Uncle both blades used to rave about him. I only saw him play in the 1963 FA Cup final for Man Utd when they beat Leicester 3-1.

Met Albert when I was a youngster in the mid Sixties. My dad knew him. Albert used to stand on the fourth bend most weeks at the dog track and always had a flat cap on.

 

Wish I had been able to see him play for Wednesday. I believe he was our record sale to Man U for £45000 as they rebuilt after the Munich air disaster.

Excellent work and vitally important that we recognise the full extent of our history, not just the most recent parts. After all, the club was at it's peak a century ago and has only occasionally hinted since that it could return to such heights.

 

Thinking about it though, I'm just surprised that our previous incompetent overlord never went quite so far as to commission statues and pictures of himself for every corner of the stadium, like that dictator in Turkmenistan.
