A Positive Day!

An away win; an opening day win; and a promising if unspectacular display. 

 

We're far from firing on all cylinders, but that's to be expected by anyone with even a modicum of realism.

 

The first half was scrappy, not helped by the injury to Onyango and the ref deciding he fancied an Orient equaliser, but I thought we were much better in the second half and for a  10-15 minute spell, they simply couldn't live with us. 

 

We really should have been 4-1 up and cruising, but hopefully our finishing will sharpen up with match practice.

 

I had that usual sinking feeling when I saw nine minutes added time, but I honestly can't remember us seeing out a game with such relative ease. 

 

It's early days and there's clearly more to come, but as far as opening days go, there are plenty of positives to take from today.

It was very encouraging and in the second half, very enjoyable.

 

Lumley, Swinkles, Slattery and Barry look excellent signings.

 

Lowe scoring two in two is massive for his confidence and he caused all sorts of problems in the second half.

Yeah, Lowe suddenly burst into life and could have had two or three in a 10 minute spell.

 

It came shortly after he had a chat with Pedersen on the touchline - could be a coincidence, but it did seem noticeable that he'd had a few fresh instructions.

If we had signed Lowe as a new player this summer I think we’d be pretty pleased.

 

If he can find some form and get on a run, he could be another “too good for the level” player in the group.

1st half was diabolical.

 

2nd half was decent. 

 

Pleased we won but also a little concerned about the overall performance albeit it improved. 

 

A good performance against Bradford will give me some reassurance and then show we can compete/better the top teams in the division would be the icing on the cake.

Trouble is anything less than a win on Thursday and the boo boys will be back. In force.

I wasn't all that impressed first half but much better second half and we should have put game to bed well before end. Had we not won I'd have been having nightmares tonight about Bannan missing that chance. 

One thing that stood out second half was that we looked much fitter team, Orient players were done last 20 minutes.
