When you thought football wasn't dying

I've read that Messi is negotiating a contract with Inter Miami that includes 35% ownership of the club. The first ever player-owner.

The working class sport has become the plaything of kings.

I don’t know what to think of football anymore. On one level good for Mbappe and indeed any other footballer who can make themselves wealthy. But in the other level it seems so out of kilter with the everyday reality of the world that it just looks obscene.
At the end of the day the top teams are making huge losses which in effect mean the mega rich are subsidising the clubs which gets money out of their pockets and into the pockets of others, who probably spend a big old chunk of it, pay taxes and all that.
But it can’t be sustainable forever…
