New Keepers and Strikers

To be fair, Dawson and Wildsmith are fine in goal as long as the opposition don't have a shot on target.

And yet the stats from last season show that Dawson saves around 7 out of 10 (which incidentally is almost identical to Westwood) and Wildsmith 6.

Dawsons save percentage from last season (68) is better than all the following keepers that many on here have been clamouring for

Archer

Etheridge

Marshall

Davies

Bentley

Walton

Rudd

Betenelli

think its how many mistakes you make not how many saves that defines how good a keeper you are ........ive championed dawson since jos brought him into the team but he's hard to back since the start of last season . ........

What defines a good keeper …..It’s an interesting one….

would you rather have a keeper who saves 8 out of 10 shots on target and drops massive clangers on the other 2 or saves 7 out of 10 and is no where near the other 3?

for me the good keepers are the one who make the least mistakes ...you have a keeper whos shipping 2 goals a game due to his errors and he aint going to have a long run in the team

All our keepers should be in for a long run then. Despite the hysterics on here everytime we conceded a goal none of our keepers averages conceding 2 goals a game, never mind due to their own errors

Yeah, Dawson saves and pushes it straight back towards the oncoming strikers. Awful keeper, and Wildsmith may actually be worse!

Stats or not, there aren't many people who have watched either of our keepers who have confidence in them. I don't remember a time we had two worse keepers than these. Incidentally shot stopping is only a small (and possibly the easiest) part of being a keeper. What Westwood really brought to the party was a commanding, confident presence in defence, which lifted the whole team - in particular the defence. With these two in the net we are going to struggle big time. A blind man on a galloping horse can see that.

Will in this team. Pap defence that has no confidence in the keeper behind them.

How do you explain that we werent really much better last season then with Westwood in goal?

I disagree. We were better.
