  1. Would depend if Dreyfus wants to pay for him but if he does I could see it appealing to Röhl if we go down
  2. I think Maguire gets picked because generally in the tournaments he finds something and is quite a threat from set plays. The only time we’ve looked likely to score tonight was from a set play really. Usually we have good cbs and lack elsewhere but it’s the other way around theses days, there isn’t a Rio Ferdinand waiting in the wings
  3. How did VAR permit that? They were both offside. Prior to that I thought our dominance of the ball was encouraging but we look toothless and shows we are totally reliant on Kanes intelligence to forge openings
  4. Loosely more a suggestion on social media
  5. Oolafe looks a handy player who can play a couple of positions
  6. That time of the season. That derby defeat reminds me of what started happening to us this time last year
  7. If they want him they’d have to pay for him and they have been reluctant in the past. He would fit their approach generally and he was an obvious candidate for “interest” as soon as Beale left but they do need a compliant manager there to carry out the decisions that Dreyfus and Speakmann make
  8. bigger stadium and attendances but that’s not the only measure of club size as we’ve both achieved similar things in the game but in terms of the here and now the other points can’t be argued against really. Owner isn’t popular though and benefits from other people’s investment into the club rather than his own
  9. Yeah he will leave and I’d share your dissatisfaction with that if it’s this summer if we stay up and it’s to a club in mid table due to facilities etc as they are fair issues that have been left to neglect. But for that to happen someone like Sunderland would need to probably pay good money for him which not a lot of clubs do. That is my point. All this needs viewing in the context that Rohls background, what he is used to, his contacts and his aspirations will take him away from us anyway regardless of how good or bad our training ground is. It’s maybe the difference of 12 months either way if he keeps getting results. If he doesn’t then what was the fuss about
  10. I think Sunderlands owners are just as reluctant to invest in a striker and they simply wanted a manager last time around who would implement their business plan and without any of his own coaching team. Part of the reason Mowbray left was because he was at odds with the money ball approach but that stats type approach and a young team may appeal to Röhl. They have a great stadium, fan base and facilities so whilst the challenges are similar to here with resources and owners they are a safer bet than us right now. I’m sure no one will thank the NE journos for “breaking” this at a key stage of the season either
  11. not necessarily it depends on the terms of the contract, for example Bruce had a fixed fee which made him one of our most profitable sales which is ridiculous
  12. Wouldn’t disagree with that but short term contracts ie really insecure ones would be to the end of a season like Rowett. His covers the best part of two seasons so it’s probably not any shorter than most at this level given the chop and change culture. Can’t stop them leaving but the compensation associated with being under contract does influence someone’s decision to make a move for them. With Bruce no one other than Newcastle would have paid that at the time
  13. Wasn’t it quoted at the time, unusually, he has a contract until the end of next season?
