  1. The international break first half of September is opportune for us. Improving performances hopefully in the 3 games before then (inc Mansfield) and things could look a lot more settled after the break New players more settled, fitter in some cases, a couple of weeks free to work things out in training and perhaps a couple of PL loanees incoming - things might well start to look a lot brighter. Critical 5 or 6 game period post break; after which we'll have a more reasonable idea of where we're at.
  2. Do you think so? First appearance he came on as sub for a very disappointing Wing and immediately improved us. Looked a good player from the off to me
  3. Yes I think he could turn out to be a terrific acquisition. Wasn't commanding aerially against Stockport but that could have been rustyness. Clearly not match ready then.
  4. Not a fan of the cultist epithet but you are 100% right.
  5. I have a hunch that Bernard will get the nod. You'd think he'd be ready by now. Looks a better player potentially than Bambo.
  6. Likely someone who wants first team experience in a good league. I suspect that few would be deterred by our position after just 3 games. The hardest part will likely be striking a financial agreement with parent clubs.
  7. I just don't know. I'm not being flippant either. Steps back to move more steps forward? Time will tell. I'm in the 'give it 10 league games' camp.
  8. I guess it's about intensity. Working with the group and the training camps etc. Being on the fringe maybe isn't intensive enough. I'd guess that the Stockport game was part of his build up regime and his reaction the following day maybe indicated that he needed 'more volume' as DM used to say. George Byers has been very carefully phased back. That said, if he doesn't make next Saturday's squad I'll be more concerned.
  9. As I say it is up to potential buyers to engineer an environment where a sale is possible. It can happen.
  10. Only thing we know for certain is that DC is not motivated to sell i.e. as things stand the club is not up for sale. The onus is on the consortium to motivate him otherwise. DC doesn't have to do anything with regards to selling if in his heart he doesnt really want to sell.
  11. I saw it and likely would have reported it but for the expedient apologies. Probs had a drink. My opinion.... best left now.
  12. XM said a week or so ago that he'd not had a pre-season. Showed promise v Stockport but clearly not match ready. Looks a more accomplished player than Bambo to me. Probably undertaking a kind of pre-season regime with a couple of others.
  13. B****r comment last night that the poster apologized for more than once. Shouldnt have said it but seemed contrite.
  14. Yes good start. The U21's apparently looked much improved in the last match where they apparently dominated a strong Millwall and were unlucky to only get a draw. Green shoots?
  15. Good points. As it stands currently, the club is apparently not up for sale. It is therefore up to the potential buyers to motivate DC to change his stance. This statement might be the first salvo in such a process. It's unlikely in itself to be enough to provoke a dialogue so the onus is on the consortium to up the ante.
  16. You're probably right about some people's knowledge of our badge history and at some point there might be a reversion to the minimalist one as you say. I'm not particularly fussed either way.
  17. It is. I liked the 70's minimalist one but like this tradional one too. Not my biggest concern at the moment though!
  18. If after 6 games we had zero points even I as a minimum 10 game advocate would be twitchy unless there were manifestly significant improvement in performance.
  19. Indeed. If we were on zero points after 10 games you'd expect action. Wait and see for me though. With all the changes it would be folly IMO to sack him after just 3 games.
  20. Good points. XM has already said that Bernard amongst other had not had a pre-season. I suspect that those players will be undertaking a seperate intensive fitness regime similar to a pre-season whilst also settling in general. It's one of the reasons why I advocate giving him time. IF its a case of a step back to go 2 forward I'm happy with that. IF........
  21. Personally I don't believe that 10 games would consign us to relegation. Way too early now anyway. Just my opinion.
  22. Sensible points. My thoughts though, before the season started was that 10 league games would be the time to see where we were at. I've not changed my opinion. Too early as yet... IMO.
  23. Back end of last season I thought in general Ihekwei and Iorfa looked tidy. I think Bernard will eventually fit in on the left. Famewo is ok too as a left sided CB but not FB/WB.
