  1. To answer the thread title question: yes. Mature? Reason? Owlstalk? Is that the definition of an oxymoron?
  2. 11 points off safety? No way we are catching them on goal difference.
  3. I remember many people posting at the time that buying Rhodes was idiotic because 1) it almost certainly would lead to issues with financial fair play rules (as they were misnamed at the time), 2) we didn’t need another striker and couldn’t play them all, and 3) we had needs elsewhere on the pitch that had been ignored. Rhodes’ hiring was simply where it all went manifestly silly, but it was pretty clear that something was wrong for a while. Of course, we didn’t exactly know the FFP consequences because the club always denied it was an issue and didnt disclose the info needed to make a completely informed judgement. But those who suspected were absolutely confirmed. I don’t know if this constitutes complaining, but I do recall thinking at the time Rhodes signed that if we were not promoted in June, that League 2 was a more likely destination than the Premier League people were posting that sentiment here and in the late, lamented Star Wednesday blog.
  4. Not going to happen. Att takes over as CEO and Director of Football in 2031, our first year back in the 3rd Tier after a stint in League 2. He dies in 2098, Chairman Emeritus, and a beloved figure to all Wednesdayites, after 65 years in the Premier, including 19 titles, and 11 Champions League titles. In 2073, the golden elephants are replaced with new golden elephants, actually made of gold.
  5. At least this should all be clear to everyone by the end of the summer transfer window. If it’s the hope that kills you, then there will no no reason to fear death next season.
  6. Hard to disagree with anything said here, but I will believe it when I see it, and see that it works. Action, not words.
  7. It doesn’t matter much, because he will continue to get everything else wrong, because that is what he does.
  8. I have every confidence in Danny R<alt+0246>hl!! He will right the wröngs of the past 8 years.
  9. Maybe when he got to the signing table at Hillsborough, Rohl looked at the photos on the wall and said, “Wait a minute, I thought Sheffield wore red and white stripes.”
  10. In 2013 another Sheffield club in a lower league dismissed their manager after 10 fixtures, with 5 points attained. Said club finished, iirc, in 7th place under the stewardship of Nigel Clough. The fatalism of Wednesday supporters is astonishing. Good leadership can get us up to 21st easily. I think Thompson could do it. They are many dreadful sides in this League. Granted we are one of them.
  11. After the 1-0 Wednesday victory, the Chairman will issue a 2000 word statement asserting that the win establishes him as a wise football seer who identified the better coach to lead the club to a playoff victory next May, when all of the ignorant doubters backed the inferior loser. Also all further fixtures will now be Category A.
  12. If we were to get 4 points from the next 2 fixtures, the Muñoz out narrative should mostly dissolve. Sure there is not much evidence that he is making any sense, but chopping and changing managers because the results are tepid after 8 fixtures is madness. Five points from 24 for the side the Chansiri-Muñoz brain trust has assembled would be tepid, not dire. One point from 24 on the other hand….
