  1. Not the same squad , not over the last two months. Ashley Fletcher now unlikely to get a game and wonder if SAFC would like him to fire in the goals......
  2. This is all about opinions where we respect each other but personally I don't think shipping six goals or four in a charge of the light brigade does anything for any team. Players' confidence need protecting.
  3. Some great points. Most of us are really worried now and also frustrated by playing an under strength midfield , and 4 at the back against the better teams. Although we rarely know who is not quite fit, exception vs Leeds where we were told afterwards, there appears to be some tinkering going on. I thought we had learnt to play Palmer behind Valentin ( or one or the other) down our right but that seems to have been dropped and Iorfa was at right back yesterday. Playing both Musaba and Gassama together means it weakens midfield and removes the defensive cover for those at full back.
  4. The manager messed up again. He is inexperienced and the line up was ludicrous. He has never been a manager before. He was probably not expensive. His appointment was another DC gamble, but all the while DC runs the club in a ludicrous fashion. DR has an impossible job ; he is involved in admin , cannot get the players he wanted in the window ( although we did manage to get Poveda and Ugbo we needed others and failed) and does not have a proper pitch or training pitch. DC has had cash crises preventing improvement to the team since CC and we are scraping by on TV money, gate receipts and season tickets.
  5. Very good points. Ugbo “barely saw the ball”….he won’t if the manager picks both Gassama and Musaba as wide midfielders. We neutralise our main goal scorer. SKy highlights showed how Johnson was a liability unable to run or defend, very exposed, and a two man midfield swamped with Poveda clutching his left thigh as he tried to track back . We need Palmer behind Valentin and James behind Johnson. We are far too thin on the flanks in defence and attack. Musaba a good impact player after 65 minutes. The manager ought not to pick a team which exposes all our failings which helps the opposition and depresses the supporters.
  6. The predictability of how a thin midfield is going to allow the opposition possession and put pressure on a ropey defence shows evident madness. Why does DR think these gambles can pay off? Seeing it at 2 pm begs question of why he and the army of coaches could not see it.
  7. Agree. We have very few draws...five it seems least of all under DR. He does not seem to be interested in going for a draw.
  8. Undoubtedly DC's decisions is the club's main problem. No doubt. The protests lessened a bit and there was opposition to them when we were beating 2-3 weak teams but they are needed to continue. It Is mainly a separate point that DR, although he has been inspirational, has been obstinate about not playing enough defensive midfielders and too many lightweights against the good teams, along with some tinkering, is and has been painful for supporters. A 6-0 steamrollering is something a manager should try to avoid. Expectations of a young man in his first managerial job have soared far too high.
  9. Can anyone say what Powell and Pederen have said please?
  10. He looked as if he had enough just before the end of the transfer window ( we had already got Ugbo) when we had failed to land targets, before Poveda arrived.
  11. You are right ..it was bound to happen esp being run ragged in a weak team today. That midfield with the two flying wingers ("wide midfileders') is a joke. DR far too adventurous.
  12. At least he knows how to play in midfield whereas we seem to believe we don't need one. Palmer in there let week, Byers out on loan, Vaulks the only defensive midfielder today
  13. Not for the first time got it wrong against the better teams and sees no need to avoid a thumping and looking rubbish. Even worse he got it wrong away at Huddersfield who were up for it, defence got shredded and playing Pederson straight out of his car did not help. Been a wonderful lifter of spirits though. And Ugbo and Poveda have been good acquisitions. He made a change at half time vs Leicester, to be better at winning the ball and defending, though taking off Ugbo was strange and they apparently had a chat the following week, and we looked better in the second half when it was too late. Against Norwich away he made it worse in the second half by weakening the midfield. Got it wrong vs Leeds at home last week. He is not the finished article as a manager.
  14. Admirable sentiment but being brave and picking a team to attack against teams miles better resourced than you has not worked so far and the evidence should be responded to by the manager. We leave holes in midfield and defence. . It has not worked. It is unlikely to work. It does not make me happy. We do not need to gamble as we have caught up the others. Would be happy if we won today and happy to eat my words esp if having Gassama and Musaba in the same team against a decent side works for once.
  15. Comparing him to Xisco and suggesting he is no better is clearly ridiculous. But now he has wonderfully got us level with the other strugglers, the emphasis ought to be on how we are doing now and what needs to be done to now get us out of the bottom three. The Leeds performance was really worrying. We were rash not for the first time. But now every point counts. Normally a tight derby vs our Yorkshire rivals, he picked a team which he now tells us was showing three key omissions because of injury worries...hopefully all three were equally justifiable, but he brought on Vaulks and Iorfa anyhow! Fair enough. But to then go on all out attack playing both Gassama and Musaba, with a team lacking Poveda, and with Palmer alongside BB in midfield and not a full strength defence , led to our shooting our bolt and the predictable inability to match them.
