Patto as a striker - positive runs his nuts off , defends from the front which resulted in several missed placed passed from their defenders and allowed our midfield to press and win their own battles too. adds height defensively from corners etc Patto as a striker - Negative Never looks like scoring. Hunt put a great cross in second half which any striker worth his salt would have got on the end of but Patto was way off it even with a ridiculous dive/outstretched leg. He also had a shot from 25 yards that wasn’t even close and he reacted like he had thundertwated the crossbar from 35 yards. gives way way too many needless free kicks away when defenders are under pressure. Several times last night we could have been in good positions with throw-ins or pressure but instead Patto gave away cheap free-kicks with daft shoulder barges.

Base solely on the fact that the player turned down championship clubs to join us I would say DM has pretty much assured him of game time in his preferred position

If Dean signs today as widely anticipated , where do these 3 signing fit into a starting 11 formation? Signing 2 central defenders, along with the form of Hutch would point to DM going 3 at the back. Bypassing the midfield for a while and moving up front - Gregory is the mainstay in the “9” position , TJJ seems to have come to play in the second striker role and Windass is on fire since returning to injury so I would say we are going to go with a 3 man attacking line up. That leaves a 4 man midfield in a 3-4-3 formation , with that in mind I would go with Hunt Bannan Luongo and NML wonder what others thoughts are? If we were to play a back 4 then one of storey and Dean would miss out for me owing to Sam’s form , unless he pushes up into a midfield 3 with Luongo and Bannan. whilst the signing of Dean is a great signal of intent I’m just not sure we now need Storey too

Need to get Storey involved straight away and back into DM favoured formation
