  1. No they didn’t. They struggled for a few seasons in the championship before being relegated to L1. It was only after Mandaric sorted them out and then sold them on that they finally began to recover almost 10 years later.
  2. So society should proceed on the working assumption that everyone is a d1xkhead unable to behave in a reasonable manner in a public space for a couple of hours and that the failure to manage the problems is not a reflection of the personal failings of those individuals but instead a failure of institutions.
  3. How do the people that cannot attend a football match without requiring the presence of a police office or steward function on a day-to-day basis? Do they have a steward follow them around from home to work to the shops to the pub and home again just to make sure they don't abuse someone or throw an object at someone? Blaming the lack of policing is a distraction.
  4. Not buying something that you can’t afford is not a missed opportunity….it’s what happens.
  5. It’s not a loan against the stadium, it’s a loan guaranteed by a charge on the stadium. The interest is a real charge.
  6. It isn’t a consortium, it isn’t TUF, it isn’t his family, it’s him. He owns it lock, stock and barrel.
  7. Didn’t Hodge once get lost in Ecclesall Wood? True or not, whenever we go there it always gets mentioned as if we expect to still find him wandering around the next tree.
  8. Exactly, the three teams relegated may not be the three worst teams in May but the competition is to find the three worst teams from August to May, not in May.
  9. Surely it happened to all those other teams as well?
  10. The parachute payments exist to keep the PL competitive and an attractive product to sell to TV stations - that's why the established PL teams accept that it is their interest to make large payments to the other teams . Realistically a team promoted into the PL has to spend tens of millions on fees and wages to have a chance to be competitive but even then the odds of staying are at best 50:50. The parachute payments exist to allow the teams to do that without risking the the very existence of the club, if despite their best efforts they go back down. United didn't invest and we see what happens - if the parachute payments didn't exist then the PL would have many more Sheff Utds and a league which permanently has a number of uncompetitive teams would become less interesting to TV, sponsors etc. and less financially successful.
  11. Do M&S and Harrods donate a share of their revenue or pay a levy on their purchases to keep the corner shop running?
  12. The fine will have expensed through P&L at the point it was levied (someone said 2018?) not when it is paid (or not paid). The payment is balance sheet not P&L.
  13. Just as when Chansiri sold the ground to himself (or at least attempted to sell it to himself) for a sum which just by coincidence reduced Wednesday’s cumulative 3 year losses to £39m, it is likely that the QPR figure has been “managed”. But if you set some arbitrary number as the target then it probably almost inevitable that people will manage to that figure, it may be contrived but if they have followed the correct practice then that’s the system. If like Chansiri they haven’t then there should be repercussions. The £10m is different, if that is due payment and has not been paid then again, there ought to be some repercussions.
  14. Debt isn’t an expense, debt is a way to fund a business. If interest is being charged on the debt that would be an expense and I believe is included in the FFP calculation.
