  1. It was the whole Darren Moore thing all over again, only the target was different. Some people had their minds made up about him, and that was that. It only remained to look at every goal we conceded and then work backwards to find a way of pinning the blame on Dawson. The lengths to which people went in order to do so were gobsmacking.
  2. That's the concern, isn't it? How is this going to affect confidence going forward? If we'd gone down by a goal or two we could have dismissed it as a fair result, but shipping six without reply......
  3. I was going to say build from the bottom up not the top down. Because a successful and viable club is built on firm foundations. Players come and go, but investment in infrastructure, facilities, coaching, scouting and backroom staff will add value long term. And I think the above falls into this definition. Also, do whatever it takes to build an emotional connection between the club and its employees, players, fans and indeed the wider community.
  4. Conceding at least 5 goals in each of your last 4 home games (3 of those without reply) isn't a dream. It's a nightmare. OK, I know we've got issues of our own and that our league position isn't exactly healthy either. But at least we're giving it a go. At least we've actually fought our way back into the scrap for survival. At least we're solidly behind our manager (who actually behaves with a huge amount of dignity in public). The dream I'm living is one in which following last seasons heroics we pull off a remarkable Championship survival. And that dream might actually come true. I'd much rather have that dream than the one the Blunts apparently believe they're living.
  5. I feel a bit sorry for Cam Dawson who was an important part of our promotion winning side. And one of our own, of course. But I guess there's no room for sentiment.
  6. We did what we needed to do, though. Won the games we ought to. Whatever happens next two games we'll still be in touch with the pack. We've actually given ourselves a fighting chance which looked impossible just a few months ago.
  7. There's an article on the BBC Sport website about last nights game. It doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know, but it's so comprehensively damning in just about every respect that it still makes for a good read. Sheffield United 0-6 Arsenal: Blades ripped apart in first-half 'disgrace'
  8. Is it just me, or is Arsblaster trying to squeeze one out?
  9. I'm actually wondering if Tufty might walk after this.....
  10. All the fault of the Referee apparently...... Celtic loss 'refereed outside the field', says manager Brendan Rodgers after Hearts win 2-0
  11. I couldn't believe it when I saw this. That Forest actually employ someone specifically to watch the referee, review their performance, then complain about anything they disagree with. Seriously? I wonder if Clattenburg ever kicks off about dodgy decisions which go in Forests favour? Refs are already under immense scrutiny - this crosses a bit of a line for me. Apparently Clattenberg was unable to gain entry to the refs room after the game. Well, good.
  12. He didn't even have enough time to get a couple of his own players sent off to invalidate the game......
  13. Danny quite rightly gets a lot of the plaudits, but surely we have to give credit to Kevin Beadell and our recruitment team. If we can't spend millions on players anymore than we have to unearth overlooked gems and rough diamonds that we can polish. Iké Ugbo, from a little known French 2nd division club and Ian Poveda, who Leeds seem happy to loan to anyone who will take him are both brilliant finds, and it makes you wonder who else we might be quietly tracking below the radar. I hope we can hang onto the pair of them, but if not I'm confident we can still strengthen the squad this summer.
  14. More likely he'll end up as a caretaker or "interim Manager" for an extended period and given a chance to demonstrate he's up to the job first. Yes, he'll move on eventually because everyone does, one way or another. But I'm not convinced he's in the superstar bracket just yet. He's not ready for a Premier League job, and he may be a bit too much of a gamble at this stage for bigger Championship clubs. He's still got a lot to prove. I think the key to keeping him is to keep him interested and motivated and to convince him that he's leading a project that has the potential to keep growing and gaining momentum. And of course to give him the tools to make that happen. The moment he feels the owner is content to just tread water is when he's likely to get itchy feet.
  15. Ugbo looks like he's enjoying the moment. Hopefully he'll want to stick around for a few more of them.
  16. 5 points between us and 16th. It's all to play for.
  17. Probably true at Rangers or Celtic, where the expectation is to win the league as a minimum.
  18. Putting aside the fact that for Chansiri "long term" is a couple of months that's fine. But under a long term strategy we would still be in League 1. And given that DM would likely have been dismissed for failing to get promoted there would be a new manager who would almost certainly want.....a reset...... The thing to have done would have been to keep the manager, evolve the promotion winning squad with some new signings, aim for Championship survival, and push on from there.
  19. This is beyond hysterical..... I mean I know they delude themselves something rotten, but trying to draw equivalence between Tufty and SAF........
