  1. This 100%. My biggest problem with all of this is where exactly are people drawing the line? This is why we have courts of laws of law - to draw the facts and to rule on a decision based on them. In this instance, no court case has come forward (for whatever reason - he’s paid them off/she didn’t want to testify/they may have opted to fight against in the lack of light of evidence?), but the fact the German judicial system has opted against taking this to trial and that’s a decision we need to accept. I’m not in the loop enough with the facts nor is there a vast amount of information out there except the media stories, which are there to sensationalise and sell more papers/generate more hits to make money. If we make decisions based on that, then I see us no better as the Facebook Paedo Hunter groups who are making accusations without any proof. A work colleague today (Hannover 96 fan) said that his career in Germany is ruined anyways - not just because of the court case, but because he basically refused to leave BvB and sit on his multi-million euro contract, which was just disrespectful to fans and the club. As mentioned in an earlier post, I have no issue signing him for the reason mentioned above. This is sufficient and although I understand the point of the petition and the letter to Röhl, it becomes difficult if we are effectively making somebody guilty without a court of law. That’s a very, very dangerous move in my opinion and should it be our jobs to then become judge, jury and executioner on somebody who has not been convicted? If we go into moralistic arguments, then you’re talking about football - a profession with some awful characters and even with a couple at our own club (I have a belting story about Bannan and a girl at Villa.. but that’s not for here). But because they’ve not had their dirty laundry aired, they should be allowed to carry on? If he had been convicted, then absolutely - he should never be allowed near the sport again. However he hasn’t and how the German judicial make their judgements is none of my business. If we can’t trust the system, then what’s the point of it in the first place?
  2. I’d totally sign him - we haven’t had anybody of his calibre even come close to signing since we were an established PL club. Imagine if he does well for us too - this could help us start a play-off push (assuming DR gets recruitment right in the summer).
  3. Danny enjoying the off season in the German Magaluf…
  4. Easy saying that though. Bothroyd went on to have a really successful career in Japan, won a top scorers title and promotion with a big club. Kim Olsen was another footballer who looked well out of his depth at Hillsborough, but then went back home and banged them in for fun. Difference with him and Kim Olsen is that they actually went on to have successful careers. Fletcher had one decent season? I honestly see Fletcher struggling to get in with a L1 team after his Watford contract is up.
  5. The Peterborough home game that got abandoned (circa 2004-2005?) due to snowfall.
  6. 100% this - Pedersen has lots of experience, played for Denmark and is under 30 - The lad from Leeds effectively gives us a third option to Gasama and Musaba. He also scored more goals than Fletcher at Blackpool last year. Could be way worse - disappointed with McGuire not signing though.
  7. The key difference was that Sheffield’s economy 40 years ago still had steelworks and major industry. Agree on the wasting money - the city airport and regeneration of Attercliffe was silly money spent, but was a good idea at the time. Sheffield went wrong with not investing into emerging industries at the time. Blunkett’s question has a simple answer - transport. Leeds has the M62, M1, the ECML AND its own international airport. Sheffield has the M1 and the midland line to LDN, which stops off at cities with a much lower economic relevance. What annoys me is the complete lack of understanding like the previous poster - Sheffield is a lot better than it has been, but needs well-paid jobs and good transport links. The key to a successful city centre is footfall.
  8. Right - I’ll bite. Firstly SCC has been either Labour or Lib Dem in its previous years - so no ‘socialist utopia’ (let me guess, you voted for Brexit too?) as there’s clearly more than one political party involved. Empty shops do not equal a poor city centre. The reason why Sheffield city centre is continuously empty? Two reasons: - Poor policy decisions post deindustrialsation (ie moving businesses into Attercliffe at the expense of the city centre) - This big shopping centre called Meadowhall (which decimated the ‘old’ city centre that nostalgic people love to hate). Add on in the decline of traditional retail (if you think Sheffield is bad with empty shops, look at Donny, Rotherham and Barnsley). The fact of the matter is simple: Sheffield is a poor city (SW Sheffield being a major exception) with crap transport connections across the country.
  9. Get that started at Southampton tomorrow - that’s a good ‘un
  10. Would be very happy if both went back. Fletcher doesn’t really offer much - he isn’t particularly quick and his confidence shouldn’t be our issue. Despite those stats mentioned above, I would argue that the improvement in stats is more a testament to Herren Röhl’s change of tactics. Hendrick is now older and is on the decline - we have experience in Vaulks and Bannan and I don’t feel he’s got the legs to play high tempo football for 90 minutes. However as others have said, neither are wanted by their parent clubs - so it would be challenging to send them back and I would assume there are clauses to remain here for the rest of the season. Delgado is a funny one - injured, but I reckon Röhl will give him a chance like he did with Valentin and Diaby.
  11. Same as you here - I thought the ref was decent and bar the Byers incident, was quite generous to us when it came to decisions and did well not to give PNE a Penalty in the dying moments. The referee was far, far worse last week - they had struggled to control the game and a series of poor decisions cost us three points. As for the sexism - it’s the same owlstalk crowd spouting the same bits of nonsense. They need to stop reading Facebook and using meaningless Americanisms for the sake of it. Could not care less on their gender as long as they do a good job and apply their knowledge to the rules of the game.
  12. Every other post bangs about it though. Has it changed anything? My original point was to Luke about how Xisco and Röhl were similar, but I don’t see the point in stating the obvious. He’s awful and the advice given to him is an utter joke - but he clearly has no intention of selling up. None of us here can change that except continue to apply pressure.
  13. Of course - Chansiri‘s behaviour is nothing short of appalling. But this thread is about what’s taking place on the pitch - the back-end of the club is for a different thread.
  14. Zzzz If you think there’s no difference between him and Xisco, I’d recommend you go and see the doctor. The issue is a crap team - we don’t have a team good enough for this league. Every player we brought in was either: 1) random player from a poor team in another country 2) players out of favour at their own club. Xisco was hands-down the worst manager we’ve ever had at this club and unfortunately we’re paying the price for that with our current team. Hard to blame Röhl - at least we play with intensity and look sharper when going forward (no end product).
  15. Well done Wednesday. Horrific accident and condolences to AJ’s family, friends, teammates and ex-teammates.
  16. Yes please - PM me and I'll happily pay you tomorrow.
  17. After just the one if you want to sell it?
  18. Hey mate - happy to have this ticket if available?
  19. Hey mate, Are these still for sale? Happy to take both.
