All I know is that 80/81 was a terrible winter for snow Unlike now it was that snow that lingered for weeks I know because my brother was born at end of 80

We got there a few minutes late and Grimsby had scored twice very early on, the gateman said that we were 2-0 down. I refused to believe this so thought our eventual 1-2 loss was a 1-0 win. We only lost 3 times at home that season, and 2 of them were our last 2 games. Our excellent home record was exactly mirrored by poor away form Typical Wednesday that we hit third spot at the end of February and then only won 2 of our last 12. 1 1

Turned around due to blizzard so we all went to Bramall Lane on their Kop with scarves an my Owls banner. Eventually got home covered in Vinegar thrown by some unfriendly Piggies Great fun ! You obviously had a chip on your shoulder. 1

Got soaked through just walking down to the ground. Thought stuff that for going on the Kop. So stood at back of the South Stand and blagged a shareholder to get me in the South Stand. (they took pity on kids, especially one’s soaked through to the skin!) and were allowed to take in a guest. Lovely and warm in the old wooden stand, watching those poor souls on the Kop. Then a massive snow storm got the game called off halfway into the game. The first abandoned match I’d been to. 1
M Royds Posted Sunday at 20:24 Posted Sunday at 20:24 I recall a game against Swansea that should have been cancelled. The game took place in a blizzard. Toshack was their manager and scored a long range home goal. IIRC, we won 5-0.

A load of us hung around to watch the games being played in the open fields outside. I also remember that match as there was a torrent coming through the roof and I think a wall gave way down by the pitch as supporters were pushing to get out of the waterfall that was about half way back.

The dog on the pitch chasing the ball & the crowd chanting 'sign him up!' Harkes getting sent off. The rain was so bad, it was going sideways & those at the front of the North Stand legged it further back, while the rest of the ground chanted 'Getting wet, getting wet, getting wet!' The rain against Coventry was immense & never ending. Seemed to last for about 4 days afterwards as well. The Wigan game was a farce. As I recall, the ball stopped perfectly in a puddle for them to score the easiest of goals before it was abandoned. We was in the uncovered seats in the South. The rain was too much for the guttering above and just hit us between the covered and uncovered seating. We had to stand in the entrances of the gangways to avoid the deluge. typical Wednesday that day. All over Wolves. But let them back in rhe game 2nd half. We should have won the league at a canter rhat season.
