Emerson Thome Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I've said on the Redmond thread that I'm not keen on us signing old players, but - we are crying out for a bit of leadership and experience at the back, so we can make an exception here. With Weaver injured and Otegbayo clearly out of his depth, then hopefully Cooper will be just what we need to stabilise the defence and hopefully be someone we can build around next season too. We've had a mixed record with these kind of experienced CB signings. Dean Smith, Martin Taylor, Ben Heneghan and Darren Purse were brought in to do a similar job and it didn't go particularly well, but then the likes of Anthony Gardner, Aden Flint and Steve Watson (admittedly more of a utility player than a CB) have been really useful for their twilight seasons. Fingers crossed. 1 1
Bez Posted November 17 Posted November 17 L**ds supporting mate said he’s a good signing. Good for a team playing deep but lacks pace so gets caught out by pace when the team is pushed up high. 1

Fingers crossed. Glenn Loovens didn't turn out too bad either. He hadn't played for 6 months before we signed him. And he went straight into the side for the match against Leicester, which we won. 2 1
Leeds U from sheff Posted November 17 Posted November 17 He was never great but like the rest, bielsa turned him in to a machine that knew his part of the bigger machine. He wiii show committment and bravery but I'm not sure if he's up to it anymore. Probably make a better leader on the pitch than bannan He's Leeds through and through but very professional. 1 1
andrew1974 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 In the last 25 years, only David Batty, Ian Harte and Gary Kelly have played more games for Leeds than Cooper. Equating signing him to signing Ben Heneghan is hilarious.
Kanye West Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Reminds me of the Loovens signing a bit albeit a year or so older, I think he will do well for us.

maldino2004 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 One of the best signings we ever made was an aging Mick Lyons from Everton. I remember thinking at the time why the hell are we signing a has been like him. Boy how wrong was I, he turned out to be one of the best centre backs I’ve ever seen at Hillsborough. He was a warrior he would stick head anywhere and he never bottled a challenge. I personally feel that Cooper will bring some of those qualities to us. 1 1 1
